Summer Watering Tips and Schedule in Phoenix

Best time to water all turf areas is before sunrise to prevent evaporation and less wind for overspray as well.  Watering turf during the day will not harm turf here in Phoenix, AZ but it is wasteful due to the quick evaporation rates we have here during the summer months when it is over 100 degrees.  Watering at least an hour before sunrise is great if that is an option and if splitting water cycles is important (instead of 1 run cycle of 20 minutes you split it to 2 run cycles at 10 minutes each) to prevent water pooling in low spots or not getting enough water on the tops of hills due to poor absorption rates. The second watering time in the evening is the best way to handle that.
