Foxtail Ferns are a great evergreen plant in small areas
Are you looking to fill a smaller area in your yard with a short groundcover evergreen shrub? We love the foxtail fern (botanical name Asparagus densiflorus) because it looks so clean and uniform with thick 1-2” green stocks that shoot out and get to be about 24” tall and get to be about 1-3 feet in diameter. They get tiny small flowers and are thornless and do not shed at all. These shrubs do best in evening shade but can tolerate full sun. We love putting these along thin walkways. We recommend normal watering with the rest of the landscaping, here is our recommended watering schedule;
These shrubs are non-allergenic and not poisonous if you want to put these in your back yard around kids or pets. Here are some great websites that talk more about these wonderful shrubs.
