Signs That Your Lawn Needs To Be Aerated

Core Aeration ServiceSpring is in full swing and before you know it, another sizzling Phoenix summer will be here.  Our crews have been busy cleaning up yards and getting them ready to look beautiful again!  This time of year we get asked all kinds of questions about lawn care tips, especially tips about aerating your lawn. Below is some useful information about aerating.

As you know aerating is the process of punching holes across your entire grass lawn.  Gas powered machines are more commonly used, called a core aerator, to perform such a task.  Others may use short spikes to punch holes in the grass, however, “spiking” is not as effective as the core aerator.

Why should you aerate your lawn?  The roots of your lawn need oxygen for healthy growth.  Also, aerating helps improve water and nutrient flow into the ground.  Aerating your lawn annually is one of the best things you can do for your yard.

How will I know it’s time to aerate my lawn?  Your lawn will begin to look worn out where people walk most often.  You may see puddles form in your lawn after you water your grass.  Parts of your yard are unable to keep moist, which may be caused by runoff of water after only a short time of watering.

Long story short, MORE AIR and WATER means happier roots and a much healthier looking lawn.
