How to Prevent Weeds From Growing Through Rocks

Keep a weed-free, desert landscape by installing a quality weed fabric before laying down granite in your yard.  If you’re a “Do-It-Yourselfer,” in this video is the fabric I recommend for you.

First, be sure to clear the soil and remove as many stones as possible and level the dirt as much as possible to lay the fabric down.  Next, cover the fabric with the granite or rock you are using to cover your yard for desert landscaping.  You can use nails to hold down the fabric on the edges if you like but usually a 2″ layer of rock will hold down any fabric just as well or better.  Just be sure to use a quality product so you are not paying heavy labor cost down the road for replacement of the fabric later.
